Charles Oudin, Horloger de la Marine de l'Etat, circa 1870. Very fine and rare gilt brass quarter- repeating " petite sonnerie" carriage clock with alarm. Gilt brass "gorge", glazed on five sides. White enamel with Roman numerals and subsidiary alarm setting dial. Blued steel Breguet hands. Brass eight-day going with single double-ended going barrel for both the going and the striking train, platform escapement with lateral lever escapement, bimetallic balance, blued steel flat balance spring. Striking on two small gongs, the striking work visible on the back plate. In very good condition. Dim. 13,3 x 8,3 x 7,4 cm., excluding the handle.
