Perrin à Lyon, circa 1690. Fine and rare silver Louis XIV "oignon" with central winding, enamelled cock with mock pendulum in the form of a swinging 'mouche'. Double body "oignon, gilt brass overlaid with silver, fully engraved with inhabited foliage( slight distortion to edge), the back centred with a glazed circular aperture. Gilt copper with Roman numerals on enamel cartouches, the centre engraved with inhabited foliage. Bluedsteel single hand. Gilt brass full plate with Egyptian pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, short flat balance spring, fine cock set with a full size enamel plaque, painted with the portrait of a lady over a black ground in the manner of the Huaud brothers. Signed on the back plate. h1 very good condition. Diam. 58 mm. Notes There is as yet no record discovered of this maker. The maker, certainly at the request of his client, appears to have taken gentle dig at the fashion for women to wear beauty spot. A tin}' black spot simulating a beauty spot is set at the extremity of a steel wire fixed on the balance rim, and swings in front of the lady's face, visible through the back aperture of the case. The enamel plaque is offset towards the bottom of the aperture to provide space for the wire to swing.
