P. Chapelle, Bordeaux, circa 1590. A rare and large oval gilt-metal Puritan style watch. Oval gilt plates, turned balluster pillars, fusee with gut, three-wheel train with verge escapement, plain two-arm steel balance, irregular pierced and florally engraved balance cock secured by a pin with matching regulator cock, blued-steel set-up wheel and click spring. Signed on the back plate. In good condition. Dim. 84 x 48 mm. Notes Pierre Chapelle is recorded as working in Bordeaux in 1593.
