A Monsieur le Comte Paul Stroganoff Watch No. 4822, completed in 1828, sold on 5 September 1857, for the sum of 1200 Francs. Gold "médaillon simple" watch. Original Breguet chain and male key. Notes History: Completed in 1828, this watch was first sold to a Monsieur Paschkoff on 26 May 1847 for the sum of 1200 Francs. Bought back from Monsieur Paschkoff on 24 November 1.847 for the same price, it was resold to Count Paul Stroganoff on 5 September 1857, again for the sum of 1200 Francs. Subsequently bought back at an unrecorded date, it was resold to the Reverend W.B. Hawkins in 2 July 1869 for 225 Francs. PAVEL SERGUEEVITCH, COUNT STROGANOFF (1823-1911) Member of the Imperial Court, Grand. Cup-Bearer, honorary member of the Academy of fine Arts and Privy Counsellor to the Czar from 1888 to 1894. In 1900 he owned some 853 hectares in Ossapovo near Venev, and 17,235 hectares in Tambov. Married in 1851 to Anna, daughter of Dmitri Petrovitch Boutourlin, who possessed, in her own right, some 14,538 hectares of land in Petrovskoe and Khotenj.
