Pennsylvania folk art carved and polychromed desk, late 19th c. , with pitch pediment above face mask and a floral carved arch, inscribed "The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword", over 2 shelves and a scroll carved fall front with central face mask, concealing fitted interior, above central cubby flanked by 2 doors, supported by carved feet joined by lower shelf, the sides completely carved with floral vines and nude figures, bears old label verso inscribed "M. Pike 1896" (out of Harrisburg, PA), 82 1/2" h., 35 3/4" w., 14 1/4" d.
