Not signed, made in Fleurier (Val de Travers), Switzerland, for the Chinese market, circa 1830. Fine and rare 18 ct. gold and enamel pair of centre seconds watches with special escapements Double body with fixed bezel, of the type used for watches made for the Chinese market, bezels, pendants and bows with red and green champlevé enamelled decoration, the backs with fine painted composition of summer flowers over a blue ground, outer champlevé enamelled decoration matching that of the bezels. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer minute and seconds ring. Blued steel skeletonised hands. Polished steel, "Chinese" calibre with free standing barrel, single wheel duplex escapement with plain polished steel three-arm balance with wedge shaped and partly blued steel weights, flat balance spring and regulator. In very good condition in later red leather fitted box. Diam. 53 mm. Notes Originally sold by pair, the watches made for the Chinese market were very often separated from each other due to several successions. The pair now offered for sale, is a very good example of such watches, in perfect condition.
