Unsigned, Swiss, circa 1805. Fine and rare 18 ct. gold, quarter repeating musical watch with decorated dial. Four body, Empire, with reeded band and engine-turned back. Hinged gilt brass cuvette. Gold engine-turned with Breguet numerals on a white enamel chapter ring, the centre decorated with an enamel painted scene evoking the newly established "Code Civil". Blued steel Breguet hands. Gilt brass three-quarter plated with free standing barrels both for the going and the striking trains, cylinder escapement, plain gold three-arm balance, flat balance spring with regulator. Musical train with pin-cylinder and steel toothed comb. Repeating on gongs by depressing the pendant with visible repeating work. In very good condition. Diam. 61 mm. Notes Promulgated in 1805, the "Code Civil or Code Napoleon" was the most important legislation established by Napoleon and still the rule until very recently when certain amendments were introduced.,
