Adamson a Paris, circa 1790. Rare and very interesting quarter repeating movement with special escapement. Contemporary gilt brass, Louis XVI, with paste-set bezels and glazed back. White enamel with bolt Breguet numerals (slightly restored on the winding hole border). Gilt brass hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fixed barrel with revolving arbor, unusual early lever escapement of Pouzait type, with large 30 toothed escape wheel set on the back plate, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring with regulator. Repeating on early large gongs by depressing the pendant. Signed on the dial. In very good condition. Diam. 57 mm. Notes This escapement differs from that of Pouzait which was designed for the famous extra large seconds beating balance, in that it is made for a fast train, the large 30 toothed escape wheel, set on the back plate. This appears to be a unique feature, no other watch of this type is known to exist.
