Pierre E Guerin (American (New York City, founded 1864), late 19th/ early 20th century. A Rococo Revival gilt bronze mounted and Vernis Martin decorated vitrine having an arched stepped cornice outlined with beaded mounts and surmounted by gilt bronze acanthus cresting over a bombe frieze centering polychrome painted musical floral trophy above a conforming glazed door within floral painted and scrolling acanthus cast borders over a painted romantic scene in landscape setting, opening to an interior with two glass shelves over a seaform velvet covered shelf above concealed storage with mirrored back, interior also electrified (later), the exterior case having glazed sides, polychrome floral and acanthus cast trim above painted landscape scenes, the angles cast with gilt bronze clasps leading to the slender cabriole legs, the front legs mounted with foliate sabots. One sabot stamped on underside Guerin, 36. The backside of cabinet with stencil mark ‘503’. Approximate height 70”, width 27.75”, depth 13.12”.
