Unsigned, Swiss, circa 1820. Fine and very rare 18 ct. gold automaton musical clock-watch. Three body, Empire with reeded band, the back engine-turned in a sun-burst pattern. Hinged gilt brass cuvette. White enamel chapter-ring with Breguet numerals, the silver engine-turned centre with an applied vari-coloured gold automaton scene: a sitting lady driven by the musical train, playing the guitar and a Cupid, driven by the repeating train, striking the hours on a bell. Blued steel Breguet hands. Gilt brass full plate, the going train with fixed barrel and revolving arbor, cylinder escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring with regulator. Pin dise musical train also driving the automaton lady playing the guitar. Striking train with fixed barrel, striking and repeating hours on a gong with striking work on the back plate and button on the pendant. In very good condition. Diam. 55 mm. Notes Automaton clock-watches with musical train are extremely rare, even more so when one of the automata is driven by the musical train and the other by the striking train.
