Justin Vulliamy, London, No. aoo, made for Frederick, Duke of York, circa 1780. Fine and rare 18 ct. gold, dumb half quarter repeating centre seconds stop-watch. Three body, massive "Consular", bezels engraved with scrolled decoration, the back engine-turned and centred with the cypher of Frederick, Duke of York in a medallion. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring (hair unes). Blued steel "poker and beetle" hands, gold counterpoised centre second. Hinged gilt brass full plate with column pillars, fusee with chais and Harrison maintaining power, 8 jewels, cylinder escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass English cock engraved with a mask and pierced with foliage, diamond end-stone. Repeating by depressing the pendant, the two hammers striking on blocks fixed on the case, the work with sliding rack-tails developed front that invented by Stogden. Gilt brass dust cap. Signed on the back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 45 mm. Notes The balance and escape wheel pivots are with jewelled bearings and end-stones. As most of the watches made at the Lime for the Royal Family, this watch is not hallmarked.
