J. King & Co., 5 Claro Terrace, South Kensington, No. 20/264, with London hallmarks for 1896. Fine and rare 18 ct. gold, early keyless pocket chronometer with 34 minute Karrusel regulator and chronograph with 30 minute instantaneous recorder. Three body, massive, "pommes et filets", polished, marked "G.J.O." (George John Oliphant) the back engraved with a monogram, thief proof swivel bow. Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel by Willis, with Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute and chronograph ring, sunk subsidiary seconds and red minute register. Blued steel "beetle" hands. Notes Pocket chronometers with centre seconds and 34 minute revolving Karrusel regulator are fairly rare even more so when fitted with a chronograph. According to the date it 'vas made, this watch is almost certainly one of the first chronograph ever made with a Karrusel regulator. Original price £ 73, making it the most expensive Karrusel then available.
