"Montre bracelet Crash Watch" 18K yellow gold gentleman's wristwatch 1991 Notes This writswatch is Humber 1, out of a limited series of 400 pieces produced by Cartier, Paris in 1991. Cloche (french term for "bell") First created in 1921, this type of wristwatch was named after its shape. Two versions were made; one with the dial in the classic position, while the other with the dial rotated 90°. The later version (as seen in the following lots) allowing it to also be used as a table watch as well. Originally, another version of the " Cloche" or "bell" wristwatch was produced with a different type of lug, creating a "stirrup" shape, causing it eventually to change its naine from the "cloche" to the "étrier" or stirrup watch (as seen in lots 490-491).
