L'Epine, Horloger du Roy Louis le XVIeme a Paris, No. 4941, Swiss, circa 1790. Very fine and unusual 18K gold, fully skeletonised, dumb quarter repeating watch. Three body, "forme collier", engine-turned with glazed back. Crystal with painted Breguet numerals. Gold "sun" skeletonised hands. Gilt brass full plate, fully skeletonised and engraved with scrolling foliage, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with ruby end-stone. Dumb repeating on the case with massive polished steel hammers by depressing the pendant. Signed on a small semi-circular gold plate screwed on the regulator indicator. In very good condition. Diam. 53 mm. Notes With a case very similar to that used by Breguet for his top quality Garde-Temps and the crystal dial, this very impressive watch is of far better quality than most of other skeleton watches of this type.
