Patek Philippe & Cie. a Geneve, No. 62503, produced in 1880, sold on 13th February 1882. Rare and very unusual, keyless watch with early perpetual calendar and chronograph. Four body, massive, "bassine et filets" with reeded band, the engine-turned back with the engraved monogram: "B.I.A.A.". Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel with Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute and chronograph rings, sunk subsidiary dials for the dated, days of the week and subsidiary seconds. Blued steel "spade" hands. Notes Among all the watches made by Patek Philippe with perpetual calendar, only the earliest are not fitted with the indication of the phases of the moon. Apparently very few were made before the introduction of the moon phase aperture. The only one recorded in Martin Huber & Alan Banbery: Patek Philippe pocket watches, is a very early "Grande and Petite Sonnerie" clockwatch, No. 27210, sold on January 1870, fig. 221 a- c, pp. 238 and 239.
