Le Roy et Fils, 13 & 15 Palais Royal, Paris, No. 12616, made for the Chinese Market, circa 1890. Fine and unusual, small gilt brass and enamel carriage clock. Rectangular fully enamelled in blue with engraved gilt aquatic plants, dragon-flies, herons and small birds, gilt bronze Chien de Fo on the top and Dragon feet. Frosted and silvered chapter ring with Chinese numerals on white enamel circular cartouches, the centre of blue enamel with a frosted and silvered rosette in a sun pattern. Blued steel fancy hands. Brass rectangular, frosted and silvered going barrel, platform with straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Signed on the dial. In very good condition. Dim. 9,5 x 5 x 4 cm. Notes Carriage clocks made in France for the Chinese Market with Chinese chapters on the dial, are extremely rare.
