E. Chartier a Paris, No. 3362, circa 1840. Fine and very rare and unusual eight day going, gilt bronze, giant "Grande Sonnerie", quarter repeating carriage clock with double calendar and alarm. ilt bronze, "Gorge", glazed four panel and top. Silvered engine-turned with Roman numerals on a polished chapter ring, subsidiary dials for days of the week, dates and alarm. Blued steel Breguet hands with skeletonised tips. Brass rectangular, three trains of wheels with going barrels, frosted platform with straight line lever escapement, uncut bimetallic balance, flat balance spring. Striking and repeating and alarm on two bells, with independent hour and quarter striking trains, striking and repeating works visible on the back plate, Grande Sonnerie/Silence, selection lever on the back plate repeating button at the top. Signed on two plaque screwed on each sides of the platform escapement. In very good condition. Dim. 19,5 x 14,5 x 11,5 cm., excluding the handle.
