$450
American, 19th century. Oil on canvas painting depicting four figures and a dog walking on the expansive grounds of George Washington's home, Mt. Vernon in Virginia. The iconic 18th century mansion (river side view) sits at the right of the work. The cupola's weathervane is just barely visible over the top view of the building but shows the symbolic dove of peace. Two figures walk arm in arm, woman wearing a red dress and man with blue jacket and hat. Another male figure stands at the top by the mansion as if on guard. The remaining male figure stands with his back to the viewer looking at boats in the Potomac River. Apparently unsigned. Framed 32.5" x 42". Unframed 26" x 36".
