Silver Creamer and Covered Sugar Bowl, Nathaniel Vernon, Charleston, South Carolina, early 19th century, rectangular boat-shaped bodies with tapered strap handles decorated with bands of five-point stars, the shoulders with sand textured surface with engraved leaf tips, supported on ball feet, marked "N. VERNON" in a serrated rectangle, (dents on lower body), ht. 5, 6 1/4 in., approx. 22 troy oz. Both creamer and sugar bowl have dents on the lower body, largest on sugar bowl is about 1 in. dia., largest on creamer side is about 3/4 in. dia., others smaller and more subtle except pinhead size indentation on creamer side near rim.
