Seven-finger Oval Covered Storage Box, America, possibly Shaker, late 19th/early 20th century, maple sides with lapped finger joinery, secured with copper tacks and points, later red paint, ht. 7 3/8, wd. 11 3/8, lg. 14 1/2 in. No cracks around joinery, possibly cleaned at some point in time, paint should be darker on cover if old and uncleaned, it is also painted under cover rim. Some craquelure to paint on cover, but could be from older painted surface. The fingers are not chamfered on edges and tips like most Shaker boxes are.
