Federal Carved and Inlaid Cherry Desk, possibly southern New Hampshire, the top sections with hinged, reeded, blind doors opening to an interior of four drawers and seven compartments, on a base with fold-out writing surface and three cockbeaded long drawers with crossbanded inlay, flanked by reeded pilasters on vase- and ring-turned legs, old replaced brasses, old surface, (imperfections), ht. ?????? in. Provenance: A note inside reads: "Desk bought by Mabel Adams 1938 thereabout from a house built in 1791 located in one of the four towns inundated by the creation of Quabbin Reservoir. (Dana, Prescott, Enfield, Greenwich)." shrinkage cracks, right side of base with the worst one; drawer runner lower left needs regluing; right hand door in upper section warped;
