Large Cobalt-inscribed Geddes, New York, Stoneware Cooler, William H. Farrar, 1855, the cylindrical vessel tapered at the shoulder with opposing pulled handles, bung hole near the base, with fancy inscribed cobalt inscriptions "Robt. Benson 1855/Geddes/Onondaga Co. N.Y.," impressed maker's mark "W.H. FARAR/GEDDES, N.Y.," (hairlines, imperfections), ht. 21 1/2 in. Several tight spreading heairlines on handles, opening, and on sides and base, probably holds about 7-8 gallons, two very small shallow chips to rim interior, the cobalt blue glaze is fried (surface bubbles).
