Carved Yellow Poplar Figure of a Frontier Jesuit Priest, Native American or Canada, late 18th/early 19th century, the figure with articulated arms, removable head, trousers, and feet, the eyes inset with shell, the hair on the figure's head is pegged with bear hair in the tonsure fashion associated with Jesuit priests, mounted on a wooden platform, ht. 21 1/2, wd. 8 1/2 in.
