A provincial carved and stained cherry wood writing desk or bureau plat comprising five panel top with breadboard ends surmounting wide central drawer over shaped kneehole flanked by two drawers on either side, both desk sides with shaped inset panels, the backside with three carved inset panels bearing floral motif in relief, the whole raised on four squat cabriole legs. Approximate overall height 30.75", width 75.75", depth 28.125", kneehole height 24", width 26".
