Antique Emerald Pendant, the Greek Orthodox cross set with fancy-cut foil back emeralds, pearl accents, 2 1/2 x 1 1/2 in. , (loss). Note: Purchased at Lord & Taylor from the Russian Imperial Exhibit and Sale of items from the Hammer Collection. Accompanied by a letter from Lord & Taylor dated January 27, 1933, and another from the Russian Imperial Exhibit dated January 21, 1933 describing article no. 5127 as a Greek Orthodox cross of hand-wrought metal containing a large percentage of silver. Also included is an exhibition tag stating that the cross is from the early 17th century, and both refer the cross to the collection of Grand Duchess Tatiana, daughter of Nicholas II. Missing a pearl. Emeralds with minor chips and abrasions, not obtrusive when worn. Reverse near pearls with some evidence of solder. A couple of minor dings to reverse.
