Jacob Jordaens (Flemish, 1593-1678) Mercury Slaying Argus, 1652, before the addition of the publisher's address (Hollstein, 7 i/ii). Identified within the plate, unidentified collector's mark on the reverse. Etching on laid paper, plate size 9 x 10 in. (22.8 x 25.4 cm), matted, unframed. Condition: Margins over 5/8 inches, unobtrusive toning and staining, pinhole to image (within the shadow on Mercury's cloak), foxing (more prevalent to verso). Provenance: The Blanton Museum of Art, Austin, Texas.
