20th century. Mirrored pair of carved alabaster lions after Medici Lions, apparently unsigned. Each depicting a standing male lion with right paw resting on sphere. Overall approximately 11" x 14" x 6". Provenance: The Estate of Fred D. Ward; whereby acquired by present owner. Note: The Medici lions are a pair of marble sculptures depicting standing male lions with a sphere (or ball) under one paw, looking to the side. They were owned by the Medici family in Florence, Italy and displayed in the Medici Palazzo from the 18th century.
