Louis XV-style Giltwood and Marble-top Center Table, with serpentine thumb-molded top above an openwork frieze with trellis work and C-scrolls, with elaborate foliate carved X-form stretcher, ht. 32, lg. 77 1/2, wd. 43 in. Note: This table held pride of place in the entry hall of Beechwood, and sat below the grand, full-length portrait of The Mrs. Astor (replicated in lot 324). It is en suite with lot 233. Marble top with one corner off but present; much of the original gilding is still present but chipped and with moderate losses throughout; all knees with heavy chipping and wear; stretcher no longer able to stay up and now held by two wires fastened underneath with later braces.
