Hibbard" l.r., inscribed "...3-X20..." on the reverse, identified on a label from Vose Galleries, Boston, affixed to the backing. Oil on canvas, 28 x 36 in. (71.1 x 91.4 cm), framed. Condition: Scattered retouch, craquelure. Provenance: Through the Estate of Clara Winslow Allen, wife of Frank G. Allen, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1929 to 1931. Small area of retouch over a minor abrasion in l.l. quadrant, 10 inches in from the lower left corner, the highest part of the abrasion located 4 inches from the lower edge. Stable craquelure in snowbanks along the stream in areas of heaviest impasto.
