Seven Sterling Matchsafes, late 19th/early 20th century, five American: a rectangular with shaped reeded borders, monogrammed; a rectangular with Classical Revival wreaths enclosing monogram recto, date 1901 verso; an Art Nouveau stamped with stylized calla lily stems, monogrammed and dated 1901, a small square with an Art Nouveau waterlily, and a Gorham engraved with overall basketweave pattern; and two Birmingham, both engraved with leafy scrolls, one c. 1908, the other 1894 (monogrammed), lg. 1 1/4 to 2 3/4 in., approx. 4 troy oz. the american reeded border and Classical Revival with a few light pinpoints. Art Nouveau calla lilies with repaired tear at front edge of top lif of body, and corresponding area at top of lid. all with minor age-typical usage wear.
