Five Continental Snuff Boxes, late 18th/early 19th century, comprising two horn, one mounted with a tortoiseshell panel, and the other inlaid with a geometric panel of horn, ivory, and tortoiseshell, lg. 3 1/4 and 3 respectively; the third rectangular with domed lid, tortoiseshell veneered, wd. 2 3/8; a papier-mache with lid inlaid with white metal and abalone flower sprig, wd. 3 1/2; and a papier-mache shoe-form box, wd. 7 1/2 in. The tortoise-shell box with losses to tortoise-shell at front edges and along right side edge of lid, some surface crazing to lid of papier-mache box, the horn box with geometric inlay lid not fitting into case, the other horn box with tortoise-shell, tortoise shell lifting slightly, the shoe lacking decorative mounts at location of a buckle and to center of lid, minor rubbing to tips of toes, all with some age typical wear.
