Copeland Parian Figural Compote, mid to late 19th century, with molded and reticulated bowl raised atop of plinth surrounded by three Neoclassical female figures, on round base molded with foliate swags joined by lion mask-topped feet, ht. 13 1/2 in. Note: Illustrated as figure 567 in the book The Parian Phenomenon , Paul Atterbury editor; Shepton Beauchamp, 1989. The book describes this compote as being part of a table service modeled by Beattie "from designs suggested by Madame Temple, Regence Street, Brighton, who commissioned the work, the female figure supports are designed to be expressions of Joyfulness, Gratitude, and Abundance, shown in the International Exhibition of 1862." Goblet restored; top of grapes missing stem; firing line of roughly 3" under the base.
