French . 800 Silver and Colorless Glass Sugar Basket, mid-19th century, with beaded wirework swing handle, with three winged female herms with twisted legs ending in hoof feet and conjoined by grapevines with wirework tendrils, fitted with a later colorless glass bowl, monogrammed, ht. 4 7/8 in., approx. 6 troy oz. some breaks and losses to the wirework tendrils of the grapevines. monogrammed at handle, and at base. bowl later, and with some residue from flower arranging material.
