Three Match Safes, two English examples, both Birmingham, including a gold-washed engine-turned, 1828, maker's mark IT, with three foliate horizontal bands, lg. 2 7/8, and a 1901 ovoid engraved with leafy scrolls, with one lid for matches, the other for a small coin purse, with small presentation engraved, lg. 3 1/4 with bail, approx. 2 troy oz.; and an unmarked rose/yellow gold case, monogrammed to one side, and dated Dec. 9, 1907, to the other, lg. 1 1/2 in., approx. 6.3 dwt. goldwashed: possible monogram removal to small cartouche at front,; minor age wear. engraved: wear at presentation inscription (reads: From Lyd to Dick). some usage wear. gold: light ding to dated area. some wear to engraved date.
