Six Silver and Silver Plate Matchsafes and a Lighter, late 19th/early 20th century, four sterling: a small square with Art Nouveau lilies, an Unger Brothers with niello scrollwork, a rectangular pressed with shells and rocaille scrolls, and an English (Birmingham, 1905) engraved with ivy leaves; and two silver plate: a flattened barrel-form, and an owl-form set with orange glass bead eyes; the lighter marked "Siam Sterling" decorated with elephants and Thai dancers, lg. 1 1/8 to 2 3/8 in., approx. 3 troy oz. weighable silver. silverplate barrel with metal separation and wear at seam near lid. some rosing to owl. silver examples with minor age wear (all monogrammed except the small square, with one bearing date 1897). lighter with some corrosion.
