Photo-reproduction of the Ship Tonawanda, with Related Engraving and History, the Tonawanda was the pride of and the last packet ship built by the Copes Brothers Black Cross Line, carrying thousands of passengers between Liverpool and Philadelphia. In 1868 she was captured at sea by the Confederate privateer Alabama; the photo-reproduction has a dedication inscribed by the captain Theodore Julius of the Tonawanda at the time of capture; accompanied by a framed engraving of the three Copes brothers, and a typewritten history of the ship.
