Portrait Miniature of a Young Man Wearing a Black Coat, c. 1806, watercolor on ivory, oval bust-length portrait, the subject's hair combed forward forming a peak, 1 7/8 x 1 3/8 in., housed in an oval copper locket, with a lock of hair in an oval compartment with a copper foil "S" or "L" monogram on the reverse, the year "1806" inscribed on reverse lower case edge. Condition: Minute paint losses on edges.
