Vincent Colyer (American, 1825-1888) Boating on the Lake Unsigned, identified on the frame. Oil on canvas, 24 1/2 x 30 1/2 in. (62.2 x 77.5 cm), framed. Condition: Retouch, abrasions, craquelure, stretched around wood panel to stretcher bars. Provenance: Robert C. Eldred Co. Inc., March 16, 1991. The retouch is minor scattered dashes, with several broader areas (one to an abrasion), near the left edge. The back of the work is protected by a thin panel between the canvas and the stretcher, but the canvas does not seem to be adhered to this panel. There is a 1/4 inch abrasion to the sky u.r. The painting would benefit from cleaning.
