Orville Bulman (American, 1904-1978) La Barque Brumeaux Signed "Bulman" l. r., titled on a label affixed to the frame liner. Oil on canvas, 22 x 24 in. (55.9 x 61.0 cm), framed. Condition: Craquelure, surface grime, pigment fluorescence. Scattered paint losses: in the center in area of the inscription "Chambre A Coucher," in the lower right in the waves above the signature, on the bowl on the deck of the vessel, and in the area of the tiger's belly just beneath the sail. Paint loss and craquelure with lifting in the umbrella. Craquelure overall, some areas of possible lifting. Subtle stretcher bar marks left and right sides. Pigment fluorescence in the white highlights and in the black highlights. Probable yellowed varnish. Provenance: From a Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, estate.
