Though Norman Rockwell did not consider himself a portraitist, his skill with capturing a range of expression and emotion made him highly sought-after for commissioned portraits. By 1968, he counted among his sitters several American presidents, astronauts, publishers, and politicians. Tack holes to all four corners; adhered to fiberboard by mounting sheet; tape adhesive residue in the l.r. and l.l. quadrant approx. 5 x 1/2 in.; skinning in the u.l. quadrant along left edge approx. 2 x 1/2 in., l.l. quadrant approx. 2 3/4 x 1/4, and l.r. quadrant approx. 1/2 x 1/2 in.; faint graphite lines beneath text and signature and at beveled mat opening, trimmed sheet on all four sides.
