Cecil Kennedy (British, 1905-1997) Lot of Two Floral Still Lifes: Spring and Autumn Both signed "Cecil Kennedy" l. r., both identified on labels from The Fine Art Society Ltd, London, affixed to the reverse, and with C. Roberson canvas stencils, Spring with pencil inscription on the stretcher, Autumn inscribed and titled "SET OF FOUR..." on the reverse. Oil on canvas, 9 x 7 in. (22.9 x 17.8 cm), framed (under glass). Condition: Not examined out of frames. Spring bears the following pencil inscription on the stretcher: "This painting may be varnished in March 1969 by me CK if I am available." It also bears a printed label from The Fine Art Society Ltd., London, typewritten with the inventory number "691/144 and the date "July 1968" as well as the title "Spring." and artist's name "Cecil Kennedy." Autumn has a printed label from The Fine Art Society Ltd., London, with typewritten information including inventory number "732/115," date "March 1970," as well as the artist's name "Cecil Kennedy" and the title "Autumn." Both paintings are framed under glass and show no restoration under UV light. The frames are sealed along the edges of the stretcher with brown paper tape with The Fine Art Society labels on top, and they do not appear to have been disturbed since this was done.
