Cyrus D. Seymour (American, 1916-1993) La Belle Epoque Signed and dated "Cyrus Seymour 1988" l.r. Gouache on paper, sheet size 20 1/4 x 27 3/4 in. (51.4 x 70.5 cm), framed. Condition: Not examined out of frame. N.B. Cyrus D. Seymour was a New York artist, commercial illustrator, and interior designer. He was a 1938 graduate of Syracuse University, and attended both Parsons School of Design and Pratt Institute. He studied under the Russian stage designer Serge Soudeikine and Japanese modernist Yasuo Kuniyoshi, both of Woodstock, New York. (1) He participated in group exhibitions at Associated American Artists in 1957, and held solo exhibitions at several New York and Connecticut galleries, including Grand Central Art Galleries. His illustrations were published in Brides and Vogue Magazine, where he used the pseudonym "E.S. DesCartes." (1) "Cyrus D. Seymour [Obituaries]." Pocono Record. January 31, 1993.
