George II Style White Painted and Gessoed Hall Table, 19th century, in the manner of William Kent, rectangular top with rounded corners above a frieze carved with vitruvian scrolls and an apron carved elaborately with a central shell and floral garlands, leaftip and scalework carved cabriole legs ending in scrolled toes, ht. 31, wd. 62, dp. 23 in. Top with long shrinkage cracks, discolorations, chipping to paint and evidence of top re-inforcement; carving very good but only traces of gilding left; age typical minor defects; white paint later and top later (likely had marble top).
