Continental Carved and Painted Alabaster Figure of the Madonna, seventeenth century style, the standing figure in flowing robes accenting with blue and gold painted detailing, on shell, C-scroll, and bird-carved base, ht. 18 1/2 in. head broken off at neck and restored. one hand broken off at wrist and restored. chips to tip of nose, edges of robe, end of crescent moon at base. Base filled with plaster, and extensive restorations to carved details, including overpainting in gold. not carved to back.
