Victorian Papier-mache and Abalone Inlaid Sewing Box, late 19th century, rectangular, with slightly domed lid and bombe sides, with ogee edges, the lid painted with a scene of a cathedral by a harbor, indistinctly signed or identified to l. l., with shell inlays throughout, silver foil-lined interior with a removable tray, lg. 11 3/4, wd. 8 1/2, ht. 5 1/4 in. Top with chip to underneath right top edge; usual overall wear to gilding and craquelure thoughout; two front feet with chips.
