Harlequin Set of Eight Fancy Painted and Parcel-gilt Caned Seat Dining Chairs, early 19th century, comprising a set of five and a set of three; first with spindle-inset backrest, bowfronted seat and circular legs, decorated with gilt foliage and a bow with quiver; second with X-form splat and circular legs, decorated with musical stilllifes and flowerheads. Moderate to heavy rubbing throughout both sets, some repairs to seat rail joints, many paint losses to first set and one likely re-gilded; age typical additional defects.
