James Abbott McNeill Whistler (American, 1834-1903) Billingsgate, 1859, probably the final state of eight (Kennedy, 47). Signed and dated in the plate. Etching on laid paper with partial watermark, plate size 5 7/8 x 8 7/8 in. (15.0 x 22.5 cm), matted, unframed. Condition: Margins over 1 inch with deckled edges, unobtrusively light struck, stain prevalent to edges and verso, pinpoint fox marks, nicks and tiny deformations to upper margin.
