Donald Castell Kelley (American, b. 1928) Untitled Signed and dated "D.C. Kelley July 20, 08" in pencil l.l., signature and date pentimento u.r. Ink and pastel on paper, sheet size 29 1/2 x 22 in. (74.9 x 55.9 cm), framed. Condition: Not examined out of frame. N.B. Donald C. Kelley trained at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, from 1952 to 1957. During a two year period abroad, he met fellow Museum School alum Cy Twombly in Mykonos, Greece. Kelley attended Yale School of Art and Architecture in 1960 where he received his Bachelors and Masters degrees. He has had a number of one-man and group exhibits in New England, and several art residencies at the Wurlitzer Foundation and The MacDowell Colony. Based on the signatures, the present work is both figurative and abstract from either vertical orientation.
