John Whorf (American, 1903-1959) Rolling Surf on a Rocky Shoal Signed "John Whorf. " in pen l.r. Watercolor on paper, 14 1/2 x 21 1/4 in. (36.8 x 54.0 cm), framed. Condition: Not examined out of frame. Provenance: Mr. Eliot Wadsworth (Assistant Secretary of the Treasury under President Harding), Boston, Massachusetts; then by descent within the family. The paper may be subtly toned. There are rubs to the sheet in the sky, probably done by the artist. Although it has not been removed from its frame, there are no additional visible issues to report.
