Needlework Sampler, "Maria Chaffins Sampler Aged 10 Years Wrought June 1806," probably Massachusetts, executed in silk threads on a linen ground with several rows of alphabets over a verse and a scene with buildings and trees, (toning, fading), 16 1/2 x 16 in. , in a later molded wood frame. Provenance: Descended in a family from Acton, Massachusetts. Allover dark toning, some fading to silk threads.
